When should I put up Halloween porch decor?
The sweet spot is the last weekend of September. That gives you four to five weeks of curb appeal before October 31 and lets pumpkins last without rotting if you keep them out of direct afternoon sun.
How many pumpkins do I need for a porch?
For a standard porch, plan on 9 to 15 pumpkins in three sizes. Cluster them in odd-numbered groupings on either side of the door and on the steps. Mix real pumpkins with foam funkins so the display still looks full in late October.
What lighting works best on a Halloween porch?
Warm white string lights wrapped around the railing, an orange or purple porch bulb in the existing fixture, and one or two flameless LED lanterns on the steps. Skip cold-white lights, they read clinical, not festive.
