Are animatronics worth the money?
One well-placed animatronic at the kid-eye-level near the candy bowl, with a 30-second motion-sensor trigger, is worth the cost for the trick-or-treat reaction alone. Anything beyond one in the same display competes with itself.
What is the best placement for an animatronic?
Near the candy handoff zone or at the entrance to a pathway, with motion-sensor activation. Keep them out of the main porch or yard composition, they read clutter when static, surprise when activated.
Should the animatronic make sound?
Yes, briefly. A short scream or laugh, under 5 seconds, activated on approach. Continuous-loop sound becomes annoying within an hour of trick-or-treating. Most modern animatronics have a motion-only mode for this reason.
